For the first time, Fingertips launched its very own competition: The aim was to capitalise on the recordings skills everyone had to (voluntarily and involuntarily) acquire during the confinement measures of the pandemic. And naturally, the winning prize of this competition was a professional album production, and this with Mill Media Co.
As always Fingertips took it a step further, no project from this organisation goes unrelated to humanitarian causes. With a nod and a wink to our beloved Festreeval project, all candidates had to submit as part of their proposed CD programme at least one piece written in variation form. CD proceeds would later be donated to planting trees in Costa Rica.
The final round of the competition was comprised with an array of 8 talented and creative pianists, who not only impressed through their high level of musicianship but also their individual ingenuity during the application process. Fingertips had the honour of having both highly acclaimed pianists Jackie Jaekyung Yoo and Helen Krizos adjudicating for the final round.
The 2021 Fingertips International Piano Competition winner was Robbin Reza. The encouragement prize ‘artiste-en-herbe’ went to Da-Hee Kim. Congratulations!
