For our next project, the charity concert “Of the people – for the people”, we have chosen to partner up with “Wilderness Foundation Formosa” based in Taiwan. Here is a note on the reasons behind this choice:
Environmental protection has never been as complex and simultaneously as acutely needed as it is today. The hunger for resources and energy is ever-growing and detrimental in the way in which nature is treated. At the same time, due to movements such as Fridays for Future and Extension Rebellion, environmental issues have never reached the news more persistently.
A change is coming, to quote Greta Thunberg. And it always begins with one individual who sets things into motion. An individual taking initiative and creating a positive impact. An individual just like you and me, and together as a local community.
The work of Wilderness Foundation Formosa is focused on education in environmental protection and is directed at field specialists who then pass the knowledge to local communities. This enables these communities to comprehensively understand the issues at hand and gives them the knowledge on how to tackle them. As the knowledge and understanding spreads, more and more people can get involved in protecting and preserving the wilderness and contributing to a positive change.
The founder of the organization Renxiou Xu’s efforts are rooted in the desire to help people ‘fall in love’ with nature, and through this to motivate them to protect it. To see the beauty of untouched wilderness and to help preserve it.
And this is an aim Project Fingertips fully stands behind https://www.facebook.com/events/486015315574622/
