Ever noticed how cool Dmitri Schostakovich’s and Franz Schubert’s glasses are? Well, we did. And we wanted to show off their eyewear fashion (especially in this era of hipsters) with their music.
At the same time we also wanted to contribute to society, create music with amazing fellow musician friends, and give the audience an unique musical experience.
How did we do it: we launched a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter to fund the project and spread the glasses of #SchostaSchu all over the web and Luxembourg. With the help of Caritas Luxembourg, we advertised like crazy (even on the radio!) and also rehearsed like crazy:
Outcome: a sold-out concert at the Philharmonie Luxembourg – Salle de musique de chambre on the 28th September 2015, an amount of over 5300 Euros of donations collected to Caritas‘ initiatives to help the homeless in Luxembourg, happy audience and musicians.
Programme: The first half started off with Schubert’s Lebensstürme for piano four-hands, followed by Schostakovch’s Piano Trio No.2. After the interval the piano duet came back with Schubert’s Fantasy in f minor. And yes, we had an encore: Schubert’s Marche Militaire played on piano eight-hands, cello and violin 🙂
